Among one of the best types of firewood to burn, oak burns hot and long and gives a great heat output. It can be difficult to split due to the grain being more uneven and takes longer to dry due to the denseness of the grain.
Most species of Oak are dark coloured. The logs can be irregular and jagged in places and are heavier as a result of the length of time it takes to grow. This dense characteristic also makes it unsuitable for starting most fires, instead being used once the fire is well established to sustain the heat output.
PACKAGING MAY VARY - ALL WEIGHTS AND MEASUREMENTS ARE APPROXIMATE
Recommendation:
Birch to begin and provide a flame
Ash and Beech for long high heat
Oak to provide a very long burn on a well established fire.
Aspen for long licking flames to keep down the soot in your chimney
