Birch is the best firewood to light, it catches quickly and gives off a good flame making it the best firewood for providing light as well as heat from your stove or open fire.
There are those who refer to Birch as a softwood, however it is classified by The Forestry Commission as a hardwood. It is true that it does burns faster than broadleave hardwoods such as Ash and Beech but it burns nowhere near as fast as softwoods such as pine, fir and spruce.
Birch is sustainable as it is grown commerically for the purpose of harvesting. A birch forest can be ready for harvest in approx 30-40 years and the trees grown high into the northern hemisphere.

We've been using Reservoir Logs for over a year now and have always been delighted with the quality of the logs and the standard of the service. Would recommend without hesitation.

A good mixture of sizes, which is handy when lighting my stove. The delivery man is also very helpful, and the logs being bagged are easy to handle.

I use these to heat my house, they catch easily and burn well, giving a good heat. There's a mix of sizes so there are small ones to set the fire with and larger blocks for longer burning. The sacks are pretty easy to handle, and with the home delivery and even stacking them in the shed for me, I only use Reservoir Logs.

I've decided I prefer this to the oak. Just a better burn/flame in my stove. Plus logs are easier to split further into nice kindling.
Really appreciate that delivery guys take the time to deliver around back of house and stack bags in log stores.
